"Nelson, as you know radio does call for a more ramped up read, but only because you don't have any visuals to work with. The key is to still make it sound more conversational when possible."

"Edd, I was just in your neighborhood... now I'm tired, red eye... but would love to have lunch/dinner next time I'm out there if it doesn't interfere with kids sports/activities/ because after all, that is... what matters most."

"Hi Nelson, I was on the road or I would have been back before now. It seems you're getting good advice about your reads. Aside from you're radio gig, forget that you are talking to more than one person. Pretend that you are telling - one person... a…"

  • Hi Steve!

I know you’ve been a member of Voiceover Universe for some time, but I wanted to introduce one of our groups to you.

I hope you'll check out and join a group called MARKETING FOR FUN AND PROFIT. It's a group dedicated to discussing ways we can market ourselves - what works; what doesn't. You’ll find some very interesting ideas and concepts there! And we would appreciate your input. Click here for the link: MARKETING FOR FUN AND PROFIT!

Thanks for your time! I trust our paths will cross soon!

    Best to ya!

  • Thanks Steve.
Hope to meet and work with you one day!
  • Steve,

Welcome to VU. It's great to have you here. We are very blessed to have the big guns like you with us. It goes to show what Don LaFontaine and you showed me from the start. No matter how successful and well known you big VO artists are, you still take the time to share your kindness and knowledge with those of us still climbing up the ladder. Voiceover artists are a very close knit family and very helpful and supportive of eachother. I pray you enjoy your visits here as much as we treasure having contact with you.

    God Bless,

    Tom Wahl
  • Thank you for the add sir, it great having such talented people like you here. These days when I watch the beginning of Law and Order, I can say that, I have u as one of my friends here on VU.

    Thanks.
  • Hi Steve, glad to see you are here. May you have a wonderful 2009.
  • So, did you create the key fob with the "dah, dah" audio? I am telling you, it's a great promo.
  • Kind words like those are priceless. Bless you!
  • Wow, huge fan here. Whatta community!

    All the best,

    Ken
  • Nelson, as you know radio does call for a more ramped up read, but only because you don't have any visuals to work with. The key is to still make it sound more conversational when possible.
  • It is a bit frustrating. As you know, much of the copy that I receive in the "local" radio world is written in an "announcery-speak-to-the-masses" kind of way. I'm also convinced that regular VO training--at least twice a year--is necessary. Making it happen is the next challenge.

I just received a couple of Abbe Museum scripts that I'll really try your approach with. I'm always open to suggestions and help. Thanks for the email, Steve, you rock.
