  • Stephanie,
I’d like to invite you to join a group I’ve started called “Voices of Colors.” There members offer information and advise each other on navigating this business as people of color. Just go to "forum" (up top), then to "groups," then join "Voices of Colors." Looking forward to hearing of your experiences.
All the best and continued success.

  • HiYa Stephanie!

Welcome to Voiceover Universe! You'll meet some old friends and make some new ones around here!

I hope you'll check out and join a group that we started not too long ago called MARKETING FOR FUN AND PROFIT. It's a group dedicated to discussing ways we can market ourselves - what works; what doesn't. With your experience, you would be a tremendous resource! The link is: www.voiceoveruniverse.com/group/marketingforfunandprofit

Thanks for your time! I trust our paths will cross soon!

    Best to ya!

  • Hi, Stephanie!

Let's see if I can be of some help to you. Yes, when I recorded my first voice over I was terrified! It's just human nature and actually that nervous energy can help you if you learn how to control it. Usually when we're nervous while performing, it's because we're not truly "in character." I wrote an article on that subject a couple of years ago and I think you'd benefit from reading it. Just click HERE to go the article at VoiceActing.com.

I got past the butterflies by letting my character perform the words and I just watched! I know that sounds a little strange, but it works oh, so, well!

I would also suggest James Alburger's book, The Art of VoiceActing (3rd edition). If you haven't already read it, you would gain SO much from it. It's truly a text book for voice actors. You can find it at most book stores, through Amazon.com and at VoiceActing.com.

Please keep in touch and let me know what I can do to be of help to you. I would sincerely like to see you realize your dream.

And be sure to join us at Positive Thinkers UNITE!

    Big hugs!

    Penny
