Well, the sound quality itself, of course, has to do with your mic and studio setup (sound dampening and the like) on the input side. On the post production side Garage Band offers various macros from basic "vocal", "male vocal", etc. to "megaphone" and many many others. The one most use with GB is the "podcast" setting. This said Pro Tools, Logic and the more intensive suites do offer complete customization when it comes to post production but again, as VO folks we will not book work based upon our production skills. The most important factor, then, is to work with an interface that makes sense without all the extras -- you don't need them. Just a clean recording will suffice.
