"Awesome, Joe! Great ISDN session with CBS. It's seems so much easier and fun when things are relaxed and light on both ends of the line. You guys are funny. BTW, you're right on about the em once, throw em away."

"Hey Beau,

As I was couch potato-ing Sunday afternoon, I channel surfed to Nat Geo and watched a few episodes of the Known Universe. As I listened and watched, I said to myself, 'Wow, I really like the delivery. When the credits popped up, there it…"

God Bless!"

"Hey Joe,

It was great to see another "Ask Joe" segment. Movin' forward...sometimes it's easier said than done, huh? And you are right, Don wouldn't want it any other way. You gotta believe that there's something greater than all of this, and Don's…"

I, too, love your work. Are you Native? I noticed that you participate in Native cultural events around the country. I'm a member of the Aroostook Band of Micmacs in Northern Maine. My mother grew up on a reserve in New Brunswick, Canada."

"It is a bit frustrating. As you know, much of the copy that I receive in the "local" radio world is written in an "announcery-speak-to-the-masses" kind of way. I'm also convinced that regular VO training--at least twice a year--is necessary. Making…"

  • Nelson -

No, i have never taken a VO class. I just do what comes naturally. I have found that, in an attempt to improve their read, some VO folks try too hard, and it begins to sound mechanical. Perfectly pronounced, with all the accents in the right places - but not believable. I usually tell folks to just relax and let the honesty come through.

    Hope that's of some help.

  • Hi Nelson,

No, I don't think that you are being nosey at all. I'm fortunate enough at this time and for the past several years to be the voice of Twix Candy Bars and Zatarain's Cajun Foods to name a few. Thanks for asking.
  • Hi Nelson

I loooooooooove the P-Solo. It's so easy to use and makes a good mic sound GREAT. For a single voice mic input it does the job you need and want it to do wonderfully. I recommend it to everyone.

But on saying that, i'd suggest you go down and test it out at the shop first - and take your Sennheiser with you. Nothing beats trial and error.

  • Hello Nelson,

Thank you so much for your kind words about my book and work. I look forward to communicating with you on this fabulous web site.
  • Hey there...thanks for the heads up on the site. I've been so wrapped up in buying my 1st house and being in my 1st movie...didn't realize it was'll be back up on Monday, in the mean time check out the other link and THANKS for being a new friend.
  • Our graduates are great people, even though they are a little silly at times - they are MY kind of people too. Our hope is to take VOICE to your side of the country in the next couple of years - so we might just meet anyway!! If you ever make it clear over here to the west coast, please be sure to call. James and I would love to show you around. In the meantime, I'd love for you to join my group, "Postive Thinkers UNITE" I think you'd like it there.

  • Actually Neil, I'm also in the agent search mode, too. Steve Zirnkilton, voice of Law and Order, etc., who lives not to far from me uses Atlas out of New York. He's had great success with them. You may know this already, but check out A lot of the major agencies are listed there. It's also a chance listen to competition.
  • Hi Nelson. Thank you for your kind words. Yes it's very competitive in the UK, but it is everywhere in the world with modern technology. It's all a challenge. How's the market for you? I'm currently deciding on which agent to sign with in the states, do you have any pointers?

    Neil -
  • September is a great time of year to be in Maine, Joe. Shirley and I make many a trip to the coast, especially that time of the year. It's beautiful. Congrats to your nephew and his bride to be. You may see a few changes in Old Orchard. Thanks for the message.

  • Maine is still a cool state...I mean it's literally quite cool...57 degrees at 5am. Enjoy your day.

I'm gonna be there in September for my nephew's wedding. Can't wait. We used to go to Old Orchard every summer back in my "East Coast" days.
