I WORK IN THE VOICE OVER INDUSTRY AS A(N)
Voice Actor, Copy Writer
HERE'S A LITTLE ABOUT ME AND MY VOICE OVER EXPERIENCE
I spent the earliest part of my life wanting to grow up to be a writer. I hardly ever excelled at anything in school, not because I was dumb, or even necessarily lazy. It was that I wasn't able to express my creativity. I did what all kids like me did, and I acted up, and cut up, and made people laugh, much to the irritation of my teachers.
In 7th grade, a friend of mine came up with the idea of making a movie, entitled "The Search for Fatsquatch". The movie was awful, but the experience was awesome. Ever since then, movies were always on my mind, be it acting, editing, shooting, etc. We continued to make movies, each one being a little bit better, as we studied movies, and books about movies.
Eventually, the time came where I could actually take a course over the fine art of film making, but the class wasn't just about movies, it covered all spectrums of video, and I fell in love with all of them. It wasn't until the teacher told me I had a good voice that I even considered doing Voice Overs. I started doing voice overs for a lot of the student projects, delivering all of them the same way for about 6 months, before getting some tips from a local VO artist that I worked on my delivery. I never thought of doing it professionally until recently, when I really discovered that I had the talent of recognizing voice actors just by hearing a few seconds of their voice, and then imitating them.
Now I'm 20 years old, and after 2 years of Video, and advanced video training, and an internship to boot, my first love is editing/compositing, but my second love is Voice Overs. Now to the tricky part...getting work.
