I see that use Audacity? How do you like it? I'm frustrated with Pro Tools 8. I was also wondering if you can use the MBox2 with Audacity?

"Hi Rosanne,
I saw your comment on Tech page about problems with your software. I'm currently learning Pro Tools 8, and I must say it's difficult and more than what we need. Which software is the easiest for you to learn and use?

"Beau,
If I download Twistedwave.com, can I use it with my MBox2 mini (that came with Pro Tools 8?). If not, which box is best? I am so frustrated with Pro Tools 8, I am ready to make a switch.
Thanks,
Kammy"

Thanks for the compliment. With Audacity, do you need an M-audio box? What equipment is needed for Audacity?

"Hi Michael,

I read that you use Audacity. Do you need some sort of M-audio box in order to use that program? I'm currently struggling with Pro Tools 8. It's very confusing and seems to be way more than I need.

What software program are you using for your voice overs? I am learning ProTools8, and paying a tutor a good amount of money. But it's such a difficult program to learn. Are there any other programs that are easier and just as good, such…"

  • Hi Kammy!

I know you’ve been a member of Voiceover Universe for some time, but I wanted to introduce one of our groups to you.

  • Hey Kammy,

Now I remember why I hate driving to my agent from the OC...%@$#$#
Had a great audition....good to see everyone....flirt with all the girls....and GO HOME. I use Sound Forge 8 and Mixcraft as a multi-track studio.

I'ts really a good feeling when your agent tells you...they want to keep you as long as you want to stay with them....a really good feeling.

I'm going to buy this VO book by Rodney Saulsberry......looks like it may be good.

    Be good to you Kammy,

    Michael
  • Hi Kammy,

Looks like you've already gotten quite a bit of advice about recording equipment, but it you'd like to speak with Jim Alburger (my partner and the author of The Art of VoiceActing - also an Emmy winning sound designer) just give us a call. He's much more well versed in recording equipment than I am. We use Sony Vegas Video for all our audio projects.

    Best of luck to you!

  • My main sound editor is adobe audition 2 ( now adobe audition 3) but i used also sound forge 8 and 9 on a new pc

  • Hi!

First off, Happy Valentine's Day ...

OK, I have Sound Studio which is totally user friendly and a piece of cake overall .... the quality is awesome. As a matter of fact, listen to my trailer demo ... it's the way to go ....

    Best,

    David Marc
  • Hi Kammy:
I'm using Sony Sound Forge 9.0, which is what the man who visited is familiar with. I didn't like Pro Tools, and Adobe Audition seems to be okay too, but SF is great for those of us who do voice-overs. Good luck to you!!
  • You don't need any special equipment for audacity -- but you need some kind of digital interface to record to the computer -- there are lots of varieties. Something the computer could see through USB or Firewire.
--or-- you could record on a remote digital recorder and process it as a mass storage device.
You might want to consult with someone local who could help you set it up.
  • Hi Kammy --
I use Goldwave version 5.25 and Cooledit 2.1 (currently Adobe audition) as my main editing software --- and have audacity - mainly as a standby and converter from analog to digital.
Pro tools is a highly effective program, but way too much for editing voice tracks -- like squashing a big with a steam roller.
    I like your head shot.
