I WORK IN THE VOICE OVER INDUSTRY AS A(N)
Voice Actor
HERE'S A LITTLE ABOUT ME AND MY VOICE OVER EXPERIENCE
I started in radio and moved into voice overs while gradually phasing out my on air gig. My first big break was after moving to Los Angeles in the early 80's and voicing the trailers for early teen movies such as Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Porkys and others. The huge break happened 20 years ago this August when a little upstart network called, Fox hired me as their promo voice. Since then, I've primarily worked in promo for Fox, CBS, NBC and ABC. I voice syndication packages for network shows going into reruns and first run syndication as well. I'm proud to be a part of some pretty cool Live TV events like the Emmys and Grammys and I work as an in-show announcer for programs like Deal or No Deal, Extreme Makeover Home Edition and so on. I also am the image voice for local radio and TV stations around the country. All of that takes up about an hour a day. So, pretty much I'm bored the rest of the day and that's why Rick said why don't you start "Ask Joe."

Lots of behind-the-scenes talk in Vegas about the "recession-proof" biz feeling the pinch. The casino "drop" is down (gambling income) and they're playing Let's Make A Deal with room rates and packages. But the franchise name of Price is Right keeps 'em packing our live show. It's a stead 600-800 folks a day. If you or family venture to the desert over the summer, call me for comps!
What up with "America's Voice"?
Thanks for adding a voice over guy from down under.
Love your work, mate!
Marcello
Thanks for the add. I appreciated your chapter in Joan's book, i read a lot of roots in there. I am new....and will have lots of questions down the road. Hope we can meet up one day to chat!

When I ordered my ISDN lines here in K.C., the 23-year-old woman kept saying "You mean DSL lines" after a few rounds of this Who's on First routine, I said "Is there anyone in the department with gray hair? Get them on the line." The fellow was loughing when he picked up, and told me no one had ordered ISDN in years. He told me they will be phasing it out nationwide in a few years, as "It's antique technology."
Joe- I heard you on Travel Channel last night!! It was a one hour speacial about Water Parks.
Wow...I've never seen the show. I think it's called, "America's Best Water Parks" or something like that. My son was on break from college when I tracked it and I hired him to be my engineer while I tracked the vo, so I wouldn't have to split tasks between wrangling Pro Tools and concentrating on Performance. It was something like 40 pages of copy. He did a great job on it. It made me dream of "Cipriano and Son Voice Overs" LOL
You came up at a talk I gave last month. How a million years ago you got this odd device called a "Zephyr" and started working from home... So I did the same!
How're things with you?
LOL...yes, 1994. I have model number 0000000001 of the Telos Zephyr...as it rolled off the production line. Back then we didn't have a little thing called ISDN. It was all Switched 56. Primitive days LOL
All is well...into the summer slow.
