  • Hi Heather, great to see you here! Hope all's going well in your own voiceover universe. I just got back from a fantastic few days at VOICE in LA - my first time in America. I had some fun at immigration, but they let me in eventually! (So, where's the new birthday thread...?? ;-))
  • Mailings are interesting. You send them out relentlessly to the same people over a period of time. You hear nothing, you begin to think what a waste of time and money. Then BAMM! you get this phone call from a person who said they got this post card with my info on it. They like what they heard and this is what I have in mind. I never sent the postcard to them directly. I have picked up two talent agencies from the mailings in December. It's just like fishing, persistence pays off. I have increased my mailings as well. It's like any other business, advertise, advertise, advertise, make your name familiar and in front of them. My dad was a general manager for a car dealership when I was growing up. He was a master at advertising and thats one thing he kept drilling into his salesmen's head keep calling, writing and promoting oneself and it will pay off over time. Hey I see you have ISDN. Cool, not ready for that yet but one day it will come around. Glad to hear you are uping the game yourself. Keep me up to date on your progress.

    Your midwestern brother in voice,

I am diving into the pond right after you! Done allowing everything else to get in my way! I too am going back to my voice exercises that I did when I took singing lessons, on top of some non singing voice exercises.
How are the mailing working for you? I am getting ready to send some new artwork to the printer.
  • Heather, what a pleasure to hear from you and for your invitation to join your page. It's been busy for me this summer, doing more vo work and really hitting the mailings. I have also stepped up the vo workouts. I'm going for it kiddo...care to join me?
