"Hello Anne-Marie,

Thank you so much for the message. How is it for you being a Brit in the US? Listening to your demos I just hear a calm Brit voice with no trace yet of an American accent. Good luck to you in your VO career. I am sure it will go…"

Just a note to thank you so much for the note you sent out about the McDonalds ad. You are a star man and I am in awe at what you have done for the VO community with founding this site.

"I was on VOPlanet for a year. As a Brit, I only received 5 auditions during that year, and some of those did not suit my voice. I didn't renew and was asked why. I replied that less than one audition every 2 months was not a great ROI, but I would…"

"No...my agent got me the gig and it is a negotiated rate! I get £400 (about $700) per 20 second promo for use in Europe, the Middle East and the Far East and there are 3 or 4 every week. I get more when they go worldwide. Not enormous, but I was…"

"The other side of the coin is that there is one well-respected worldwide TV channel I work for every week....and the rate works out at $120,000 per recorded hour. I don't mind doing that!"

  • I went in to the audition today - went very well!

  • Thanks for the link to Penelope's video. I've seen her many times before, but never knew her name. Funny commercial too! Oh, and thanks for the correct spelling of Hertfordshire. If people think I'm from there, I suppose I should know how to spell it properly!

    Toodle pip!

  • Hi David,
Feel free to join my group (ask a Casting Director) if you haven't already...and if you're interested, I cast for computer game voices.:)
and yeah I have plenty of faces to go around. heh heh.
    Stay super!!
    Toodle pip!
  • I love it! Yeah, top of the morning because it was after midnight where you were at time and I also have to admit that there is a touch of the Irish in me... going back to 1883, that is.

Thank you so much for allowing me to incorporate your tea preferences as a comment on VOX Daily. It doesn't get much more proper or British than that!

I hope you're well and have a great weekend. The weather here is going to be so hot we'll actually get to wear shorts, lol!

    Best wishes,

  • Top of the morning to you over in the UK :) Thanks for popping by my page, David, I'm very pleased to meet you.

By any chance, do you have a favourite cup of tea?

    Best wishes,

  • You are such fun! Do you ever get to the states? We simply must meet! We would have a jolly good time!

I am a child of the 50's so that's probably why I love this "older" language. My Brit friends tell me that my British character (Penelope) sounds as if she is from in Hartfordshire. (Please forgive my ignorance if I've spelled that incorrectly. ) I have never been to Great Britain so I wouldn't know for sure, but she is a gentle and well-cultured character and I love being her. My real name is Penelope, and the accent comes easily to me so who knows, perhaps I was English in another life.
  • Bottom's up old bean - hmmm. Verrrry interesting. Isn't that something one says as a drinking toast, or am I mistaken?

Maybe someday I'll get this right. Thanks for the clarification on toodle pip. I love this - WHAT FUN! Any others you'd like to share?
  • You know, my partner, James' publisher is in the process of putting together a European book tour. Their home office is in London so we might just get to do a workshop there as well! (If you don't already know, James is the author of The Art of Voice Acting.)

It would be wonderful to meet you!

    Toodle, Pip!

  • Today has been pretty quiet actually! 20 on hold messages, 1 ad on one station for a lap dancing club, and 1 ad doing my best 'Rosemary from hong kong phoey' voice to go on 3 stations. have picked up my husband's bug, and feel rather crap today, so in a way, although financially dire, it meant i could stay by the fire and drink hot toddies!! Hope Wednesday brings us both oodles of work!
  • Hi David, thanks for getting in touch. Where have you been that's left you in 'moochy' mood? Hope you have a productive day.
