"Hey Kipp, I agree! I love telling people what I do and then wait for that dumb-founded look to come. What? I always say, "if this is work, give me all you throw at me." Encouragement and motivation? Give me that too. As Zig Zigler said: “People…"

"Tom,

Thanks for the input. The agent I'm talking about is Lori Lins LTD in Milwaukee.

I may try and contact the engineer since I recorded on spot in Minneapolis and see if he has anything. We hit it off fairly well.

Thanks for the tip,
Craig"

I saw it in print somewhere on this site. I don't remember now though. I talked with my agent and they said they did not want me contacting the creative or the agency directly, so I guess I will have to wait.

  • Michael,

You said it brother! My day job which I hope to make my past job is paying the bills for now. Voice Over for me is like you said "my passion". We'll encourage one another and others to persevere on.

    Voice On my friend,

  • Hey Craig,

Thanks for getting in touch....this is really an interesting world we are getting in to, but ..."I LOVE IT"
First thing I did was make sure my day job was paying all the bills...then, I get to persue my passion...gotta to love it. So much still to learn...having a great time.

Getting my demos together...talk to you soon.
  • Hi Craig, I'm right next door to Richardson and Plano, both being suburbs of Dallas. Originally from California but schooling and radio brought me to Dallas.

One of my pastor's sons is a total John Deer fan. His room is painted green and yellow, and is decorated with all things John Deer. If he could drive a tractor to school I'm sure he would.
  • Hi Craig, I apologise for giving the impression that I don't approve of your home studio....I know it's different around the world...I was offering an opinion about home studio in Oz....forgive my insensitivity....I am intrigued about home studio because it seems to be very much the thing in the US...on the VOICEOVERUNIVERSE site, one is asked about one's 'capabilities' studiowise. I am fascinated about how we, doing the same thing, do it so differently around the world! Wow, travelling 200 miles!!! Australia is a large country...Italy fits into our Northern Territory ( one of our 'states') but most of our voice work is focussed on Melbourne and Sydney...oh dear I hear our Brisbaneites complain...but the majority of the work is where the main ad agencies and corporations are located. Is LA the 'place' for recording? or New York? Next Friday, I am the round table for voice over in Australia for graduating actors for the MEAA. Our voice over artists, as we tend to call them here, used to be from a radio or acting background...nowadays...all sorts of people are getting into the business...but one of the problems is that they haven't had any 'ground up' training..(translation...doing retail commercials for free for a couple of years at radio stations) and the fact that the old fashioned 'ACTORS' voice is now not de rigeur...agencies are after 'boy on the street'. What is your experience in the US?
    Appreciating the conversation.
    Kind Regards,
    Ella
