"Hey Kipp, I agree! I love telling people what I do and then wait for that dumb-founded look to come. What? I always say, "if this is work, give me all you throw at me." Encouragement and motivation? Give me that too. As Zig Zigler said: “People…"

"Tom,

Thanks for the input. The agent I'm talking about is Lori Lins LTD in Milwaukee.

I may try and contact the engineer since I recorded on spot in Minneapolis and see if he has anything. We hit it off fairly well.

Thanks for the tip,
Craig"

  • Hi Craig,
Thanks for the kind words. It took a lot of classes, workshops and coaching to lose the "broadcast" sound that came from my radio days. I still have to work at it.

You've got a great voice, nice texture!

  • I agree, it's a small world. My work is broken up into TVC'S, Radio Commercials, IVR, Speech Recognition, Corporate Narrations, and Kiosks, although, if someone needs me, I'll do it. I am best known in Australia as the voice of Foxtel's BIO channel, (I think on Cable in the US it's called BIOGRAPHY?) I am also the voice on our centralised taxi system on the eastern seaboard, and recently flew to Japan to record a sat nav that will be going in Jag, Volvo, Lexus, and Ford around the world. While some voice artists have studios in their homes, I am not supportive of it here in Aus. The studios are the ones who have cast me and supported me for 20 years, and I want to continue supporting them. Not a judgement I make in other markets of course, just the way I see it here. Also, I like to get out!!!! I am involved in our union here, the Media Arts and Entertainers Alliance, (Actors Equity) and mentor acting grads. Ours is a small community, those who are professional are largely represented by 2 main agencies based in Sydney Australia, I am with EM VOICES, the other is RMK. Still...as I say...if you and I were to switch towns for a day and walk into a studio...it would be identical. Put on your cans...do as many takes as it takes, and be told "can you make that more blue? can you make it more red? Bigger, smaller, less projection, more projection....." It's a living!! haha, Regards,
    Ella
  • HiCraig,
    Thanks for your kind words.
It's a thrilling career, I have been doing it for 24 years while I was in the media, and full time for 14 years. You have a lovely sound, do you work in studios or just from your home studio? What type of work are you booked for? Hope you don't mind my questions, but although what we ultimately do is the same...I think it's very different all around the world!
    Good luck!
    Kind Regards from DownUnder.

  • Hey again Craig,

glad you like the latest show! Rick was a GREAT guest........thanks as always for listening. Voice 2008 will be fun. Hopefully, you can make it next year!
  • Hi Craig!

    Great demo!!! Great pipes!!!
  • Hey Craig! ROCK SOLID demos - you really do possess the "velvet hammer! Thanks for your comments - and I agree, that this business is infinitely more supportive of our individual efforts (compared to the back-stabbing environment I experienced in the radio world!) - lovely to meet you!
  • Thanks for your comments Craig, and thanks for checking out my podcasts, I really appreciate it! I'm still driving my '03 Mach-1. It's a great car, now with 40,000 miles. I think the only Mustang I would upgrade to, providing I earn substantially more money, would be one of the 2008 Pirelli Boss 302 'Stangs!

    Cheers,

    Wayne
  • Craig,
