The author, Seth Kallen Deitch, is the son of the great animator Gene Deitch (Gerald McBoingBoing, Monroe (with Jules Feiffer), the Tom Teriffic cartoons, Marky Maypo and much more), and the brother of Kim Deitch, a cartoonist from the "underground comix" era of R. Crumb etc. He likes to write stories wherein history or reality are just slightly askew, but you can still go into the corner news-stand and buy a cheap cigar.
