Bettye Zoller left a comment on Audiobooks & Narration: Paying Jobs!
"Sometimes it's ok to hire someone to edit your book reads. It speeds things up as you can be narrating more books and paying someone to clean up files same time. Track expenditures and measure if this is paying off. For me, it often does."

  • Hi Bettye!

Yep...I was just considering changing the color of my profile text...Done!

So...I'm guessing that this is in response to my post in the VO-Coaches Corner ...

Tell me...what do you have in mind???

btw... I remember your voice, Mother Nature .... the cadence and inflection... I remember it vividly!

  • " A demo only lasts as long as you're not better!"

    What a brilliant statement!!!

    Thanks!!!

  • Thanks so much for the lovely b'day wishes. I should check this site more often. Wishing you an awesome 2011.
  • I just love your voice. Your gift is splendid indeed. I am enamored by its ability to straighten my posture. :)
  • Hi, Bettye, I bought your webinar series on how to do audio books - very, very useful and packed with info. Thank you so much. I need a bit more info about the use of music in preparing a sample CD for audio book auditions/demos. Is it ever advised to include a (carefully selected) music track along with the read? Thanks! • Bettye, I just found your note asking about newwaytoread.com. This is my audiobook publishing, production and distribution company. It actually falls under the umbrella of Readio Theatre, LLC. All of the titles there are mine. We research, write, copyright, produce and distribute through various wholesalers. You can listen to sound bits there. Looking forward to our class. I started a page for us on my site...joeloesch.com. Hugs
  • Hello Bettye,
Thanks for "friending" me today. It's an honor to make your acquaintance.
I hope you have a splendid day!

  • Apologies Betty, I found it! Like my mother always says "If it was a snake, it would have bitten you by now!"

I saw your posting on the audio book group regarding your 3 -part webinar. I was wondering where I could buy the podcasts? You mention a John, but I am unaware which John you are referring to :)?

Thank you for your help. Your posting down below for reference.

  • Hello Dear Lady,

Yeah, I've been a tad 'incommunicado' of late. Had a bit of a financial setback and it's hard to recoup when living on a fixed income. We're trying to sell our house here and if we're successful, we're headed back to Missouri to take care of family. The plus side of that is it's only a short 6 hour drive or so to Dallas and the possibility of taking some lessons from you ;o)

I had to stop my pay2play subscription for a while too. Honestly though I wasn't getting any work from it anyway. I'm afraid I even reduced myself to being a bottom feeder in my bids for the projects and I still didn't land any.

My only employer of late has been a small recording studio in Rhode Island who pays me a whopping $1.25 per finished minute. I've been one of several voices they use to compile audio anthologies and such. It's been good practice, but it doesn't even keep me in cheap wine ... much less the kind of cigars fit for a man of my caliber ;o)

I won't lose heart though. I'll keep recording, even if it's just for my grand kids and maybe at some point in the not too distant future I'll be able to step up and start competing again.

I have a few local prospects, but so far they've failed to launch (both are new companies in the Tampa area).

I've only been able to land one agent also, and I've gotten two auditions from him the past 6 months .. and didn't land either one of those gigs.

Anyway dear lady ... this isn't a 'woe is me' epistle, I've been down a lot darker alleys than this. I'll keep on keeping on, watch and listen to the greats like you and someday ...................................
