  • Hey Kids!

I just thought I'd drop by and say...

  • Welcome Lisa.Just love your quote .I'm definitely using that one!!
  • I truly agree with Penny about being thankful for the amazing opportunities that come our way. By taking the time to be grateful to those many folks that surround and support us with positive energy, I find my life becomes enriched beyond measure.

Our high school needed to raise some money to support our athletes. Budget cutbacks were brutal this year, and athletics were hardest hit. In fact, all athletes pay $100 per player per sport to the county in order to qualify to play. As a mom of a junior, I decided to take the lead to help the situation.

Last year, I developed a Holiday Bazaar to be held at the high school so the student clubs and athletes could fundraise for their coffers. I invited outside vendors as well to add some colorful variety. I advertised on social media sites, local school and community papers like crazy. Last year, by spreading the word, we had a total of 50 vendors. What an accomplishment, since the local vendors contributed a % of their profits for the day.

This Saturday, our "Highlander Holiday Bazaar" has now grown to 100 vendors. Every one of the original vendors came back, and many of them told a friend...and so on. I did very little advertising this year.

I treasure the connections with others that support and help others in small ways. Who knows where it will lead? I read one time it's called the "Butterfly Effect." I am thankful for working with volunteers that believe that helping others is a noble endeavor and shared my vision of a way to help the school.

Saying thanks to those that matter...a beautiful action that is good for the soul. In fact...I'm off to write a thank you note to the vendors in our facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=162002653810385

Happy holiday to one and all!
    Linda
  • You Rock Lisa - so happy that you're here - Welcome :)
  • Welcome, Lisa! We're so glad to have you with us. Your beautiful soul will shower its light on all of us!

    Hugs,

    Penny
  • Penny's story made me think about a quote in the book "The Artist's Way". Someone wanting to learn an instrument but feeling insecure about her age said something like, "Do you know how OLD I'll be once I become proficient at this stuff?" and the author's response was "Yes, the same age you'll be if you don't!" One day at a time, I will not let my fears stand in my way of doing what I love. And anyways, the fears are based on beliefs that are not true or real. We make up stories in our head that seem so real to us. Hi everyone. I'm Lisa, I'm so glad to be on here with you all. YAY for positive thinking today!!!!!
