Penny this is such a wonderful group, thank you so much for starting this!
In the newsletter I publish each month, one of my short articles is called "Dear Diary," and last year Penny had encouraged me to post November's entry here...so here it is! I hope everyone will start their own gratitude list - it welcomes in even more good.
Dear Diary
Well yesterday was yet another busy day, even if it was a Saturday. Lately I feel like I'm so scheduled all the time, I barely have time for any self-care or to just relax. Reading a book with my feet up and nothing else to do is a distant memory. And the annoying part is - as I move up the success ladder, it appears that it's only going to get more intense. I've realized that I have to find more ways to not only advance my career in the professional sense, but to also thoroughly enjoy the process.
So I decided to start a gratitude list. Or an appreciation list I might call it. Starting today over my morning coffee I'm going to write in this special little notebook I have, (that's just been waiting in my desk drawer for something interesting to be written in it), several things I'm grateful for. And I'm going to do this every day. By the end of the month I'll have over 60 things that I've reminded myself to appreciate!
OK, this is what's on today's list. And after writing my list this morning, I feel so much better already. Here's what I wrote:
I'm grateful that all my geraniums are in full bloom.
I'm grateful for my warm, cozy bed.
I'm grateful that my clients trust me to do a good job.
I'm grateful for my beautiful new laptop computer.
I'm grateful for my best friend's love.
I'm already looking forward to writing my list tomorrow. Amazing really how uplifting even a small amount of self-care can be.
