How cool that your student inspired YOU! We just never know where that "push" will come from, do we? Good for you! Just remember to thank that student in your acceptance speech when you receive your first Voicey Award! or Emmy! :-)

Here's just a little food for thought for the weekend.
We all come into this world with certain gifts (or talents). Not all of us are given abilities as artists, singers, mathematicians, communicators, writers or actors, etc.
The really cool thing about our gifts is that we usually have MANY of them. It's during our journey in life that we discover talents that were previously hidden. By overcoming the fear of taking risks and trying new things in spite of some fear, we often uncover those hidden talents quite by accident.
As for me, I want to discover ALL the gifts I've been given and use every single one. In this way, I express my gratitude for being given the gifts.
"When I stand before God at the end of my life, I hope I would have not a single bit of talent left and could say, 'I used everything you gave me!" Erma Bombeck
Be open to the wonderful possibilities of life, my friends. Have a tremendous weekend!

Penny

My voices spoke to me too and the messages were the same as you describe. And yes, I still work as a secretary and while I got lucky in my day job, I had never wanted to feel stuck in a cubicle for the rest of my career.
It's exciting, scary, challenging, to say the least, but I'm committed to training and promotion and working very hard on building my confidence. Your story is encouraging and I'm glad to have joined this community.
One of my coaches told me when I first heard my demo and was a little disparaged at my sound, "you might not like it but that's because you're comparing it...this is your sound, your type." So rather than think others are better at this than I am, I accept that I have a type that's completely my own. And that's what I bring to the table.
Thanks for the inspiration,
Trudy
