  • Penny what an inspirational story I hope I get to meet you in LA at Voice 2008. Having freelanced in Sydney Australia,my next step is to tackle the US market and when ever those "voices" go off inside my head i will remember your story. Thank you.
  • We all face difficult seasons in our lives. The key to victory during these times is to stay encouraged. Although it's important to be lifted up by our friends and colleagues, the best way to stay encouraged
is to encourage ourselves! In a day and age where all of us are very critical of ourselves, we need to be just the opposite and become our own greatest encourager.

One of the greatest ways to encourage ourselves is to remember all of the accomplishments, right along with the hard work, that you put into everything you have done and continue to do. For no one else can truly know how blessed you are than yourself! Focus your mind and your heart in all that you do and your strength and hopes will come in abundance.
  • Hi Penny, thanks so much for the invite. I can't express in words how much it means to me. Does positive thinking really work? Yes! I have been using it actively for about a year now.

About two months ago I was in a personal crisis and I had to choose between getting money for a VO job (a good chunk) that involved someone not great, kept thinking ways around it, a way to work it out. Then I decided to ask myself was the money worth it? We all need money but was keeping this person in my life worth the comprimise I felt inside. I decided it wasn't, that the money would come to me again, not knowing how it would just believing it would. 10 mins later before my pilates class I checked my blackberry and i had a email stating a contact was sending me a contract with PetSmart.

Also, when that little and lots of the time loud voice starts getting the best of you and the positive side is fading. Lately I have been fighting back and getting mad saying actively to that loud negative voice (which is me but not the me on my side) SHUT UP! You haven't done a dam thing to get me here today! Becasue SHE hasn't. She didn't do or help anytime I needed it so I tell her so and that not longer gives that voice power. I use this one when the small war has been waging a week or so - I hope you know what I mean.

  • Great insights, Greg. Sometimes it's pretty hard to separate ourselves from those negative people in our lives. Unfortunately, they are sometimes the ones who are closest to us. But I found some years ago that I just couldn't be around them and still have any level of personal happiness. After the initial "break up" I have found other - much more positive friends. And in the long run, its been for the best! Now I have such great, positive friends!!!!
  • Great Idea Penny. It seems the world is getting to be a tougher place for people to live in every day. What helps me to stay positive is to surround myself with the people I most respect and want to emulate. Positive minded people rub off their good vibrations on others nearby and the same goes for the negative people. The choice is ours who we'd rather associate with and be like. I also believe it helps me stay in a positive frame of mind by having a grateful attitude. Regardless of what's happening in your life there is always something to be grateful for. Always.
  • I KNOW that you are too, Dan. I've known it from the start!
  • I just stated reading "Think and Grow Rich," again. it is alost like the first time through. I am learning so much. It is like now I am more open to what Mr. Hill was saying.

I know that I am going to make it to Voice 2008. I just know that I am.
