As a "newbie" you have found a very good home :-) There is a wealth of information here and a lot of great folks willing to help where and when they can.
I'll put all the different ideas together from everyone and post it on my blog. It should generate a lot of great ideas and we can all use it as a resource to market our businesses!

Your recording software should be able to do that for you. You probably have an option when you save the file to save a copy of the file as something, typically it's "Save As" and then you have the option of selecting what type of file you wan to save it as. - .wav or a .mp3. Select MP3 and click save. That should do it. Good luck!
