  • Ann - Good point! I've done this also and it absolutely works. Adding the LAME Encoder allows direct exporting to MP3 saving an external step. If you are going to use iTunes you probably want to keep your VO tracks in a separate "playlist(s)" so they are not just intermixed with the rest of your iTunes music collection. Also note, you might want to check your ID3 tags for your MP3 files before sending out.
    Best - Al
  • Christine, another option is to simply save the file in iTunes (if you have it!) and while the file name is highlighted, click on "Advanced" in the menu bar up top and select "convert to MP3). I have ProTools and it works perfectly this way.
    Best of luck.

  • You need to install the LAME MP3 Encoder which is not distributed with Audacity.

    See this link.

  • Hello, I was happy to find this group. I am a newbie living in SW Washington. I became disabled 11/08 and needed to find something that would fit me. I have lots of acting experience and did 150 voice characters for puppets. Theatre has always been my passion and VO has now become a part of that. I have managed to attend some local workshops and will be joining a VO practice group. My interests for VO are pretty broad. Of course I would like to do animation but I know that is not realistic.

I am in the process of setting up my home studio. I have someone to help me with the Audacity program and my new mic is in the mail.

Possible silly question, how do make the mp3 files so I can send them to people for critique. I told you I was a newbie:) Thanks for any help.

    Blessings,

    Christine

  • Whats up my voiceover family!!!! It has been a long time since I have been on here but I just want to see how everyone is doing. Is anyone working these days as it pertains to vo? I almost worked on a vo for the MJ coin collection but lost it to someone in LA. I know.... what a bummer...but hey they loved my voice I just was not in LA. All I can say is keep your head up and keep rockin the mic!!! I hope to work soon if you need a voice im available. Take care,
  • Ah! A group aimed specifically at me! They don't come any Noo-er than this Noob! Cheers Alan
  • Hey All!
I'm new to the site, and to VO work! I'm flying through the obvious groups to join up and see what kind of feedback and help I can get! I'm a radio producer, and voice local commercials plenty, but I'm hoping to get into something more creative! Games! Cartoons! Whatever! I write, produce, and voice a segment at the station I work at called 'listener mail', where I answer questions from listeners as 'Frankie the cab driver'.
    Sample:

I only voice the cabbie! Any thoughts? Suggestions? Critiques? I'd love to hear 'em!
  • Hello everyone, new to the group so I thought I would say hey....HEY.
I'm a radio DJ for a local fm station here in OKC (weekend overnights), and as the shift is late night weekends my listener responses are well...limited. My real question is this, where would be the best place to post requests for listener drops and such. There not paying gigs at all just quick little I'm listening stuff. Thanks for the help.
