  • Hey gang. Hope everyone is staying warm and dry! I'm gazing out at gray skies, drizzle and wind here in Los Angeles.

I just figured out how to upload demos on my page, so if you want to hear my attempt at a Pedigree dogfood commercial, have at it! Oh, and don't forget to subscribe my blog! Cheers.

  • If anyone wants one more blog to read, I'll add mine to the mix: voiceovertherainbow.blogspot.com! Catchy, ay? I'll be sharing my trials and tribulations as I enter the VO biz. There are some really great blogs already out there...I think I'll start a discussion of whose blogs are people reading.

Hope all is well in everyone's world. It's looking like a wintry mess in some areas, so I'm grateful to be living in Southern California. Ten years of Chicago winter was plenty for me in one lifetime.

  • joi, JS Gilbert really is marvelous to have here with us. He is a wealth of knowledge and is very willing to share it! Mostly I know he gets it, and truely believes that the more you give the more you will receive! That's why he is as good as he is! Every time you teach someone else a principle you already know, you are also teaching yourself, reinforcing it in your own head, and thus making yourself that much better. If only everone understood that!
  • Great question joi! Yes. I for one want to hear it. It really bugs me when people hold out on me by not saying what they really think. I've got this one really good friend who would never say a bad thing about me - or anyone else - and interestingly enough just yesterday I sent him a custom demo that I knew wasn't great, but I couldn't put my finger on why. I could tell he didn't like it either, but he couldn't bring himself to say it. Well at least I know he's not bad-mouthing me behind my back, but he's not much use in helping me grow.

Be diplomatic, be kind, but be REAL. And you gotta tell the whole truth. Nothing is ever black and white - if your doing something wrong, chances are your doing something right, too. And all too often, a critic will only tell you what's wrong without ever telling you what's right.
