  • Hi guys,

I'm in Richmond, VA (the suburbs of Short Pump, to be precise), and am just starting to break in to the VO scene here (such as it is). I've lived here for over a decade, but before that I considered the DC area my home (I graduated from the U. of Maryland--fear the turtle!). More recently I spent a great deal of time in Bethesda Md., where my coach and mentor John Burr lives part-time (the rest of the time he's in Sarasota, FL). I look forward to sharing VO experiences with the rest of the group!
  • What Voice Over jobs resource sites have REALLY been working for you and where are they located?
  • Hello everyone,
I have been in Charlotte North Carolina for 8 years. Los Angeles was home for 10 years prior to Charlotte. I have been the host of the tv series Discovery Jones Expeditions since 1999. While in L.A I was represented by CED as an actor. Jan. 2009 will begin my full time return to voiceover work as we are finishing my tv series after 148 episodes. Check out clips of the show at www.djexpeditions.com. Hope to meet some of you soon.
    Glad to be here.

  • Hi All,

My name is Dory Hayman and I live on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. It's nice to see so many voice talents from this region.
  • Jay Thanks so much for the invite!

  • Thanks for the invite Jay!
    John
  • Thanks, Jay. Wishing you the best as you write your next chapter....(I was a loyal listener). Warm regards to everyone.
  • Jay Lang, you said key words "What works for you." And yes, the Thank You letters and emails are ALWAYS a +. It's the one thing I live by as an artist in general. The building of relationships are very important. It will make a difference reference future work with clients. Be blessed and keep on the journey.

  • I'll second Jay's comment about reaching out with gratitude. After getting the gig and doing a great job, providing sincere-but-ego-stroking feedback from the employed to the employer is one of the more effective ways to construct a bridge of mutual respect and even endearment. You'll be easier to use next time because "you get him/her". AND it will help in that ever-elusive path to word-of-mouth marketing.
