  • I believe that is technically known as an emancipation proclamation by proxy John.

  • Thanks Dan

I think so too! Oh I dont expect to get an apology in fact I'm expecting and hoping for just the opposite. Adds to the wonderment factor of the whole thing. And to think I didnt even think those Characters were all that good! lol!
  • John!

    That is a classic!!!

    HA!!!

Can't say that I'm surprised! And having dealt with them in the past, I doubt you'll get any sort of apology or acknowledgement they might be in error!

But you're right, that's a heckuva marketing piece at their expense!!!

    Congratulations (I think)!!!

  • On the Subject of Voice123...

I recently posted a demo of Character Voices on my Voice123 profile. Today I got the following email from Voice123...

Hello! As part of our Quality Assurance efforts, we came across your demo "Characters", but regretfully it was removed because it fully represents a talent other than yourself.

Please make sure that all demos on your page showcase your talent, not those of another talent. We understand that demos can have two or more voices, but the removed demo was not you.

If you know of a fellow talent who wishes to join Voice123 as a Premium or Standard subscriber, please visit our Live Chat for Talents, available Mon.-Fri., 9-6pm EST. or email help@voice123.com.

    Sincerely,

    The Voice123 Team

Dont you love how they basically just dissed me but want me to sell them to a "Friend?" I wrote them back to let them know that all the voices on it are me...nothing but me...100% me! I also told them I was going to use this as a "Selling Point" for future work. I am saving the emails and will post that if my character voices were so good they could fool the "Experts" at Voice123 they must be good!

If nothing else, it'll be worth a laugh!
  • By all means glad to join in.Am inactive at present but have had a few years of experience to offer ideas etc.

  • Hello fellow voice over proffessionals!

I have a quick question. Has anyone had better luck with VO Planet versus Voice123? I was a premium member of V123 and I only won one gig in a years worth of auditions and submitting generic demos. That one gig was the narrator of the TV show Americana Outdoors. The client and I worked together for two seasons until they decided to move on in another direction.

So I'm now considering VO Planets Plutonium Membership ...kinda middle of the road as I still don't have enough cash flow to sign up for every website under the sun!

Any input is as always GREATLY appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

  • ping.fm. very cool indeed. thanks for the link.
  • Hey Roy!!

Great Information with the "Ping.fm." I just set up four of my social networks with it and it works GREAT! It is indeed all about networking and communicating not only what we as artists have to offer but also letting people know how things are going. I SO agree with what you stated below:

"try to adhere to a self imposed rule when I update my statuses on my social networking sites: Try to never brag, never bash, never complain (working on that one), edify others who are accomplishing good things with their goals, and always uplift others with a positive note. I find these are generating leads for me but more importantly, creating new friendships in and out of the recording studio.

It is so important in this rough and cruel world to stay positive and help others to be positive when the chips are down.

I also need to work on using the social networks as just that....staying socially connected to business clients as well as prospects...not going to these social networks to see who robbed me in Mafia Wars or Who popped the most bubbles in Chain Rxn.

Okay I've whipped myself enough...thanks for posting the Ping.fm link! Keep on keeping on man!

    Peace!

    TC
  • I'm @royontheradio on Twitter which updates my Facebook status. This is where I'm most active and use these primarily for business networking, building professional relationships with other VOs Pros & Radio/TV personalities, and of course open communication with friends, family, and clients.

I'm also on MySpace since my kids are on it. They think I'm a cool dad for doing so. (and so do their friends as well as their friends' parents). MySpace is a great way for me to stay up to date with them without having to get "all up in their biznazz" as they say. My kids are college age. I find that their friends' parents are good leads to other leads.

I also subscribe to alot of other social networking sites which point to my VO website. My thoughts are web presence and SEO. I'm still kinda new to the social networking concept (actively involved since March 1) and lots of leads have come my way and a lot more are in the brew. Although most of the good ones came from across the pond in the UK and Europe, I have received a couple of gigs here in the USA.

I manage all my social networking websites with http://ping.fm/ and it updates all my sites simultaneously. From status, to microblog, to full on blogging, it updates them all from one website. I recommend checking it out.

I try to adhere to a self imposed rule when I update my statuses on my social networking sites: Try to never brag, never bash, never complain (working on that one), edify others who are accomplishing good things with their goals, and always uplift others with a positive note. I find these are generating leads for me but more importantly, creating new friendships in and out of the recording studio. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to go anywhere in the world knowing that you had friends awaiting at your destination?

I hope I stayed on topic with this thread. I am in a rush to prep for my afternoon drive air shift. Hope this info helps someone out. Thanks for having me here.
  • Status updates on LinkedIn & Facebook are great to keep people up to date on what you're doing. One of the great gigs I did this year & last was one I got through LinkedIn by reaching out to a person who had answered a question in a way that I thought was brilliant! I sent her a message, she aswered back and THE NEXT DAY she contacted me about auditioning for a French job she was managing, which I booked! Twitter I find a bit different in the sense that it's a real conversation and it can't always be about me. me. me! RTing (RE-Tweeting) infomation that others have shared is a great way to keep the conversation going & show that you want to have that open dialog. Of course using it the same way as FB/LI status updates is also great. BTW, you can also update your statuses all at once on LinkedIn, FaceBook & Twitter by using Ping.fm. You enter it into PING.pm and it sends it to your LI, FB & Tw accounts at the same time!
