  • Hi everyone - great to be part of the group!
I have just moved here from Australia, where I have been working for the last 10 years.
VERY different scenario there - I get ALL of my work through my agent and go into the studios.
I am not good with technology and have not had to record at home - this is all very new.
I am currently in the process of setting up my first basic home studio with the view to upgrade in the future.
Goals: I travel a lot for work, so the studio needs to be somewhat portable.
So - I have a MAC and an MBOX 2.
I was told that the Apogee Mini-Me would be a great pre-amp for my basic set-up whilst satisfying the portability requirements.
Problem....they seem to be hard to find these days....and I don't want to purchase off eBay.
Can anyone suggest a good vintage audio dealer where I might be able to pick up a well serviced used unit? Or other suggestions for how to pick one up?
Or suggest a good alternative with digital output, Phantom Power and XLR connectors.
The Focusrite ISA ONE was suggested to me - thoughts? A little too big...
Any advice that would bring me out of the dark would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
  • Chicago VO'ers.

Bravo to Kathleen for a fantastic show!"

Journey to the Center of the Uterus™: Adventures Infertility! is a humorously poignant multi-media show about the entire infertility experience. Hormones, IUI, IVF, donors, talk of surrogates, and the inevitable adoption question, comedian Kathleen Puls Andrade has endured them all. She takes the audience on a roller coaster ride through her experiences with doctors of varying personalities, would-be supporters with foot in mouth disease, the ups and downs of hormones, shots, procedures and more. Using animation, interviews with real men and women from 35 to 85, and original music by Marshall Stern, the show aims to make the audience laugh while giving them perspective on the whole crazy process. It's not all about the funny, though, as Kathleen describes her battle with the effects of the hormones, drugs and procedures. This honest, personal tale will make you laugh, gasp, cry, and think.

Helping to bring Kathleen’s Journey to life is the skillful direction and brilliant animation of Andrew Eninger, an accomplished actor, director, Second City instructor, and playwright. Eninger is also a founding member of GayCo Productions, Chicago’s Gay & Lesbian Sketch comedy theater, and the creator of "Sybil," a critically acclaimed improvised performance piece. As a sperm donor with his own adventure in fertility, he has enjoyed learning from and collaborating with Kathleen as she examines her experiences.

Journey to the Center of the Uterus™ is not just for those dealing with infertility. People who know others going through IVF or anyone interested in a great, funny story will love it too.

  • Since there is no discussion board on this group, anyone in VO who wants to meet in Chicago, please email me at morganhbailey (at) gmail.com! I look forward to meeting you all! I think this will be a great opportunity for all of us.
  • Hey Morgan. Sure I would be interested in meeting. I work downtown so we got lots of options.
  • Hi, Chi people! Would anyone be interested in meeting up sometime? A sort of discuss-the-biz/network/make-friends meet-up?
  • Hey Chicago VOers!

Journey to the Center of the Uterus: Adventures Infertility! is a completely original, multi media comedy, which I wrote and produced, about my own experiences with infertility. Journey incorporates the characters I encountered, interviews from real people in a similar situation and hilarious, original songs. The direction and animation are done by the award winning Andrew Eninger who performs for Second City. The show premieres on September 23rd at the Greenhouse Theater Center in Chicago and has an open run. There is truly nothing else out there like this show.

Below are the links to the show website, the animation that opens the show, written and voiced by myself and co-starring Darren Stephens, one of videos from the show (Donor "Commercial") which I also wrote and is voiced by the inimitable Jeff Lupetin

I also do an audio blog on this topic for fertilityauthority.com which is associated with Martha Stewart's daughter, Alexis. They invited me to create the blog after learning about the show.

Oh, and join Jimmy Carrane and I on Studio 312 on WBEZ on either Monday or Tuesday morning.

    Many thanks!
